Q: So What do you do as Scarlet Missionaries? A: Our main task is to spread the word of the light amongst the corrupt people of Stormwind. We also undertake missions around the world to further the downfall of the Scourge. ((for those above level 60 we have very regular all-scarlet outland instance runs and most people in the guild have never done an instance in a non-scarlet group, we also hold regular RP events and raids thoughout each month and every Sunday we have lengthy RP prayers and an inducition session for new members))
Q: I want to join you! What should I do? A: In order to join our Order you must first reach 15 seasons of experience ((level 15)). We only accept humans into the Scarlet Mission to Stormwind, but you amy be of any background and training ((all classes accepted)).
You must also thouroughly research everything you can about our Order and the Scarlet Crusade as you will be tested on that infomation later! ((please read and learn this website and also www.wowwiki.com/scarlet_crusade))
When you have done the above you must then attend the Cathederal of Light in Stormwind at seven in the evening ((game time)) on any Sunday to watch our prayers and then be tested after prayers are concluded. The testing will last some time, so expect to be with us until about nine c'clock or even later. Joining our Order is not easy as we only take the best! We do not guarentee to accept you but we wish you the best in being tested!
The Registrar, Dufferin handles the induction of new members into the Crusade.
Q: Once I have joined, do I get to wear the full uniform straight away? A: Those who join start as an Initiate ((trial membership)) for a period of a week. If they are successful at the end of the week they will be promoted to Penitent.
As an Initiate you will be refered to as 'Initiate' rather than 'Brother' or 'Sister' and you do not wear the tabard of our Order. You also wear a robe that you will be given and cannot wear our armour.
Once you are promoted to Penitent, you will become a full member of our Order and may then wear our tabard and full uniform.
Q: Do you have any rules for dress and conduct? A: The Scarlet Mission has a strict dress code for all members. Whenever you are out of combat, you are expected to be in uniform. This means Scarlet Linen Robe, tabard, with head and back gear hiden. There is also a mail set that warriors and Paladins may wear when they become full members as Penitents. Aslo we don't allow drinking alcohol or getting married or having boyfriends or girlfriends.
Q: I want to join, but my character is a Dwarf/Elf/Gnome. Can I still join you? A: No. The Scarlet Crusade is strictly human only. If you are not a human, chances are you won't find us to be very nice people.
Q: If I join, will other people stop liking me? A: Other people find the Scarlet Crusade offensive, and when they see someone wearing our uniform, they get upset. Members often find that people slap them, spit on them, and abuse them in other ways for no apparent reason. This is one of the trials that tests our faith on a daily basis.
Q: Isn't the leader of the Scarlet Crusade a demon? A: Don't be ridiculous. Next thing you'll be telling me there are Crocolisks in the canals in Stormwind!
Q: Can I rejoin ? A: Sadly for RP reasons and to maintain guild stability we never allow characters who have left to rejoin. This rule is applied regardless of the level of your character. We are a guild for mature players who want to create a long-term 'Crusade' Character, we do not accept those who want to join for short term RP story reasons.
Q: How do I get promoted in your guild? A: Once you join as an Initiate you will be automatically made a Penitent after a week if you demonstrate your commitment to our guild. The rank of Novice is a punishment rank only reserved for our badly behaved Brethren. To be promoted above Penitent will take months of hard work. We are a very slow-moving guild and we look for the most dedicated members who make the most impressive contributions for promotion. Once you have served for at least a month, speak to the head of your Division for more information. Those lucky enough to make Ordinand will have to undertake 'Ordination tasks' to gain promotion to Missionary. Our guild officers change very rarely indeed, and so very few will become Emissaries of our Order. All promotions are surrounded with all the RP ceremony wou would expect from our guild.
Q: What do I call your guild? A: The guild name 'Scarlet Missionary' is intended to look like a game label for RP reasons. We refer to ourselves as the 'Scarlet Mission' as we are a diplomatic mission. We dislike the use of the word 'Scarlet' on its own to describe us.
Q: Can I join as a 'veteran' of the Crusade who has retired, or an existing member of the Crusade who has been 'transfered' to Stormwind? A: I'm afraid not. For RP reasons our Mission is here to recruit fit and able members of the public to join the crusade, and it would not make sense to accept aged or injured veterans, if indeed the Crusade would allow them to retire to Stormwind.
For reasons of guild fairness we will not allow people to RP that they have been sent to the City as an existing member of the Crusade. If you want to have a position of responsibility in our guild you must earn it over many months of work, not just RP already having it.
While we do support creativity in back-stories, like all guilds you must start at the bottom like everyone else. People who use either of the above back-story will be told that either they are too old or unfit to serve, or they will be endlessly told to wait for confirmation of their status to be sent by courier from the North.
Q: Are you a 'good' or an 'evil' guild? A: We RP an organisation with many evil sides to it, but that many well-meaning good people would join and become lost in. The Scarlet Crusade is religious zealot dictatorship with the Grand Crusader at the top of the structure. Our Order is part of that organisation and so even the High Emissary himslef RPs complete obedience to the Grand Crusader. But be warned - we do not like pantomime evil characters that are insane psycopaths or that have super-human powers of dark magic - try another guild if that is you. We are the public face of the Crusade in Stormwind and we are not here to destroy the City. However we take part in plenty of disturbing RP events that some may not like. We execute cowards and warlocks, we punish our members who do not follow our rues. Other players on the server may take against you, even OOC, and members who leave will find that they are treated badly by the members of our guild. Be prepared for all of this.
Q: Why do you not like the other races? A: The other races are all from outside Stormwind and come to Human lands for their own reasons. The Scarlet Mission beleives that they cannot be trusted to save humanity as they must always have their first duty to their own lands and people. We are also a deeply religious order of warrior monks and as such the fact that the other races do not follow our religion (the Light) means we can never accept them as our equals. We also think that humans should learn to stand up for themselves and not learn to rely on races that may abandon them in the future. These are all the reasons we do not like or accept the other races into our Crusade
Q: What about those strange titles I hear you use? A: There are a few terms that we use that people often get wrong. "Refectory" is the name given to our meeting room in the Cathederal, it is latin in origin and is used in Christian monasticism to mean the place where people eat - it is not 'Reflectory'!. "Registrar" is the name given to our chief administrator, it is a title that is still in use in Universities - it is not 'Register', 'Registar' or any other variation. "Proctor" is the name given to the head of internal discipline, it is a term used in both modern Universities and Cathedrals. "Ordinand" is a guild rank and signifies someone who is still to be ordained, much the same as 'graduand' is the title of a person just before they 'graduate' and become a 'granduate' - it is not 'Ordnate' or 'Ordinant'.
Q: Will Deathknights be allowed to join your guild? A: Yes they will! Deathknights will be allowed to join as a special rank of "Auxiliary" that will be below the "Penitent" rank but above "Initiate". They will have a uniform that is the same as the Knights but with a specified 2-handed sword. Due to their appearance we have a rule only for Deathknights that they are not allowed to enter the City of Stormwind - so playing this class in our guild will be a real challenge but lots of fun.
Q: If I ask nicely can I wear the scarlet set? A: No! No matter how long you have been in our guild the uniform rules remain the same. We have had to demote or even expell members who do not comply with the uniform rules so please read them carefully and make sure you will be able to follow them before you apply to join.
